मनोजवं मारुततुल्यवेगं जितेन्द्रियं बुद्धिमतां वरिष्ठम् ।
वातात्मजं वानरयूथमुख्यं श्रीरामदूतं शरणं प्रपद्ये ॥
Manojavam Marutatulyavegam, Jitendriyam Buddhimatam Varishtham,
Vatatmajam Vanarayutha Mukhyam, Sri Ramadutam Sharanam Prapadye
The Meaning
“I take refuge in Sri Hanuman — swift as the mind, fast as the wind, master of his senses, foremost among the wise, son of the Wind God, and the messenger of Sri Rama.”
The Significance
This verse honours the very leap Hanuman took across the ocean to Lanka in search of Mother Sita. It is chanted to invoke courage, devotion, and the strength to cross any obstacle — the same spirit that carries pilgrims across the sacred sites of our Sri Lanka Yatra, from the Rama Setu shoreline to Ashok Vatika and Sita Eliya.
How to Chant
- Sit facing east in a calm, steady posture.
- Chant the verse 11 or 108 times, ideally at sunrise.
- Visualize Hanuman’s flight across the ocean as you chant.
- Offer gratitude for strength and safe passage before you travel.
The Blessing
“Where Hanuman’s name is remembered, fear dissolves and the path unfolds with courage.”
