Ayodhya is not simply a destination on a map. It is the ancient city of Lord Rama, a place where every street, temple, and sacred ghat carries a story from the Ramayana.

According to tradition, Ayodhya was the capital of the Ikshvaku dynasty and the birthplace of Maryada Purushottama Shri Rama. It was here that Rama was born to King Dasharatha and Queen Kaushalya, and where his childhood unfolded alongside his brothers Bharata, Lakshmana, and Shatrughna.

But Ayodhya’s story is also a story of dharma, sacrifice, devotion, and reunion.

It was from Ayodhya that Rama left for his 14-year exile, accompanied by Sita and Lakshmana. The people of Ayodhya loved Rama so deeply that they followed him, unwilling to let him leave alone. Later, after the defeat of Ravana and the completion of his exile, Rama returned to Ayodhya — and the entire city came alive in celebration. This return is traditionally remembered through Deepavali, when lamps were lit to welcome Rama home.

Today, Ayodhya continues to be one of India’s most important pilgrimage destinations. Shri Ram Janmabhoomi, Hanuman Garhi, Kanak Bhawan, and the sacred Sarayu River invite pilgrims to experience different chapters of Rama’s divine story.

And perhaps the most beautiful part of Ayodhya is the feeling it leaves behind.

You don’t simply visit Ayodhya.

You walk through the story of Rama.
You remember the meaning of dharma.
You feel the devotion of Hanuman.
You stand beside the sacred Sarayu.
And you return carrying a little piece of Ayodhya in your heart. 🙏
